This is a white extra heavy weight "instructors" karate gi. It's made of long fiber 14 oz 100% brushed cotton canvas so it's much softer than "traditional" heavy weight uniforms.

This Piranha Gear brand gi includes pants with a traditional drawstring waist, reinforced groin, and heavy stitching throughout to ensure durability. The pants and sleeves all have 8 rows of stitching at the hem. It is truly a "top-of-the-line" uniform.

We were tired of the drawstrings calling it quits before the uniform. So these drawstrings and jacket ties are made of the same heavy material as the uniform (but quadruple folded) so they won't tear after the first year.

The jacket has shorter "work-out" or "tournament" length sleeves (4/5 length) rather than full length "formal" sleeves - specifically for comfort and convenience. That means the sleeves will ride a couple inches above your wrist rather than cover it. The jacket is also slightly longer - about even with the groin. The pants are "standard" length.

This is NOT intended for beginning students and we'd suggest you consider a light weight gi before investing in one of these. It does NOT come with a belt because, honestly, you probably already have one if you're ordering this...

As you can imagine, at our company we literally have our pick of uniforms and without question, this is the finest one you can find for anything CLOSE to this price. It's the one WE use for karate.

We have a nylon lining put inside the drawstring "tunnel" on the pants. That makes tightening them much easier - especially when they get sweaty.

These uniforms will only shrink a small amount, so don't plan to buy a size up - also we recommend you use the weight from the size chart as your first guide to picking the correct size (since it's much easier to adjust length than girth). If anything, uniforms tend to run large, so if you're not sure about the size, go down. Pants will run long - as most quality gi's do, so you can hem to your exact preference if needed.

These tend to be sized a little larger than "average" for typical karate uniforms. If you're between sizes or your body height and weight doesn't seem to fall inside the numbers listed, we recommend that if you're "tall & thin" go with height (you don't want it too short), "not tall" or "not thin" go with weight (you don't want it too small around your waist/stomach/chest).

Pants sizes (unwashed):

Note the "waist size" is the measurement of the fabric on one side when laid flat. Also keep in mind that the "inseam" measurement is not the same as it would be on a pair of "civilian" pants. We recommend you use the total length of the pants for sizing. You should expect about 1" to 1 3/4" of shrinkage in the length after washing.
