Heavy Weight Karate gi 14 oz (4/5 sleeve)

This is a white extra heavy weight "instructors" karate gi. It's made of long fiber 14 oz 100% brushed cotton canvas so it's much softer than "traditional" heavy weight uniforms.

This Piranha Gear brand gi includes pants with a traditional drawstring waist, reinforced groin, and heavy stitching throughout to ensure durability. The pants, jacket and sleeves all have 8 rows of stitching at the hem. It is truly a "top-of-the-line" uniform.

We were tired of the drawstrings calling it quits before the uniform. So these drawstrings and jacket ties are made of the same heavy material as the uniform (but quadruple folded) so they won't tear after the first year.

The jacket has shorter "work-out" or "tournament" length sleeves (4/5 length) rather than full length "formal" sleeves - specifically for comfort and convenience. That means the sleeves will ride a couple inches above your wrist rather than cover it. The jacket is also slightly longer - about even with the groin. The pants are "standard" length.

This is NOT intended for beginning students and we'd suggest you consider a light weight gi before investing in one of these. It does NOT come with a belt because, honestly, you probably already have one if you're ordering this...

As you can imagine, at our company we literally have our pick of uniforms and without question, this is the finest one you can find for anything CLOSE to this price. It's the one WE use for karate.

We have a nylon lining put inside the drawstring "tunnel" on the pants. That makes tightening them much easier - especially when they get sweaty.

These uniforms will only shrink a small amount, so don't plan to buy a size up - also we recommend you use the weight from the size chart as your first guide to picking the correct size (since it's much easier to adjust length than girth). If anything, uniforms tend to run large, so if you're not sure about the size, go down. Pants will run long - as most quality gi's do, so you can hem to your exact preference if needed.

Fantastic Dogi. Highly recommend getting one of these; the price for this superior product is about what you'd pay for a medium or student weight Dogi elsewhere. It's every bit as thick as my Shureido, but feels broken in; like I've been wearing it for a year. The tails on the kimono are a little longer than I like, but they're not in the way. I really like the 4/5 sleeve length. They run about a half size large, so if you normally wear a 5.5, order a size 5. Buy one! You will be very happy!

I feel that this Gi is one great value! I especially like the pants. I always found draw strings a problem and often the draw string just would not pull tight because it would get caught. Piranha is the only Gi maker that has cured this problem with a silky insert that makes the draw string a pleasure to use. The material is of good quality and the fit is proper for the larger American body type. Its my best Gi I ever owned and my favorite. I will buy more in the future. I wish they had the same Gi in a 10 to 12 Oz. for warmer weather. Don't hesitate, buy this Gi! Why waste your money on expensive Gis when this one will more than do!

I've only had one other good gi... a Shureido. I like the Piranha gi better. It's heavier and more comfortable. My fellow instructors like the quality and are amazed at the price... They thought it cost between $150 and $200 (like the Shureido). I just ordered another one for myself.
